A Plinko board for thinking about what an arts marketing dollar sets in motion.
Marketing is often described as a direct exchange: spend money, get attention. In practice, the path is less certain. Money moves through platforms, tools, people, creative work, and the organizations trying to reach an audience. Some of its effects are immediate; others are difficult to see or measure.
I’m building a Plinko board to make that movement physical. A piece drops into the system, encounters a series of choices and obstacles, and ends somewhere that invites a closer look at what the investment supported.
The board is an experiment in explanation as much as fabrication. I’m working out which pathways it should represent, what can be supported with evidence, and where uncertainty needs to remain visible. I’ll share the rules and the first playable version as those decisions become clearer.
