A drawing machine as both an image maker and a source of sound.
A pen plotter leaves lines on paper, but it also makes a rhythm while it works: motors moving, the pen lifting, repeated shapes becoming repeated sounds. I want to record that process and see what happens when its sounds become material for music.
The plan is to plot first, record the session, and build a small sample pack from the sounds that are actually there. A composition can grow from selected clips, with other instruments adding parts the machine cannot make on its own. The drawing, recording, and finished track would remain connected as parts of one session.
I’m beginning with the physical plotting and recording. The sample list, notation, and packaging will follow what the first session produces.
