An artist’s maps become the covers of notebooks meant to travel and be used.
I first encountered Jerry’s maps at the Dennos Museum Center. Their color, density, and unmistakable process stayed with me. Since then, I’ve collected panels and spent time with Jerry, Henry, and Nick looking through the work and exploring what a notebook made from it might be.
The covers begin with reproductions of Jerry’s panels. Inside, I’m testing paper, grids, page counts, dimensions, and binding. The goal is a useful object that gives the artwork room to speak while feeling good to write and draw in.
The prototypes have already prompted the most helpful kind of feedback: marks made directly in them. We’re working through the final materials and production details now. This page will follow those decisions, the first finished notebooks, and the story of how they came together.
